All HCCS Chinese teachers and teacher aides are native-level Chinese language speakers. English teaching staff are licensed under TSPC standards. All teachers must have classroom teaching experience and demonstrate competency in all areas of core content. HCCS selects teachers who have excellent child rapport and strong interpersonal skills.

Board of Directors
Molly Heywood, Chair
Molly holds a Masters degree in Education/Special Education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She worked as a teacher and consultant for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services for 8 years at NW Regional Education Service District. She is a former board member and President of the Portland chapter of Self Help for Hard of Hearing People.

Dan Seim, Vice Chair
Dan served for 40 years as a teacher and administrator of Lutheran elementary and secondary schools. Most recently, he was the founding Principal of Forest Hills Lutheran School in Cornelius. He also worked as as a consultant for the Genesis Project, where he conducted feasibility studies for new schools across the US and in Canada. Dan holds a Master of Education degree from Concordia University.

Matthew Ho, Secretary
Matt is the owner of two restaurants (Ohana Hawaiian Café) located in Portland metro area.
He holds a BFA in Graphics Design as well as a BA in International Studies with a Minor in Japanese. Prior to opening his restaurants, Matt worked as a Graphic Designer and Art Director for global companies including Wieden and Kennedy in Tokyo and Starr Siegle Advertising in Honolulu.

Naveed Bandukwala, Treasurer
Naveed worked in the automotive industry for 7 years in Design Engineering. He has been with Intel for about 13 years, initially working in Finance and then in Business Development. He is involved in developing licensing and collaboration strategies around future technologies and negotiating complex deals. He has a passion for outdoor activities such as biking, running, and hiking. He started an Intel Hike Club 12 years ago which has grown to 1200+ members. Naveed has a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA with focus on Finance. He speaks Urdu, Japanese and Hindi.

Deborah Dang, Member
Deborah is a certified public accountant with over 15 years of experience. She is currently the Director of Accounting at TriQuint Semiconductor. In her current position, she is responsible for all the external financial reporting and manages the corporate accounting department. Deborah holds a bachelors degree in business administration and and MBA. Deborah grew up in Vancouver, Canada and has worked in Hong Kong and California before moving to Portland. She has two kids, 5 and 2 years old and believes in the importance of educating her kids in mandarin. Deborah speaks English, Chinese and French.

Caroline Li, Member
Caroline has 25-years of experience in marketing communications, including employment at KOIN-TV, Creative Media Development and Intel Corporation. In her most recent position as Marketing Manager with Intel Corporation in Singapore, Caroline managed a team that supported marketing efforts across the Asia Pacific region, including China and Taiwan. Caroline holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Southern California.

Cecilia Tsai, Member
Cecilia is a finance professional who served Intel Corporation for 5 years as a Senior Financial Analyst. In her most recent position at Intel, she developed finance controls for all geographies and ran a worldwide brand audit on Intel Inside licensees. Cecilia holds a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Johns Hopkins University as well as an MBA from the University of North Carolina. Cecilia immigrated from China as a child, and understands the importance of learning Chinese Mandarin at an early age, as well as the challenge of maintaining such a difficult language.
