To provide a comprehensive bilingual and bi-literate education that nurtures students to be highly proficient in all academic subjects, but with a special emphasis on Mandarin Chinese, English and mathematics. By doing so, HCCS will prepare students to become highly skilled, caring world citizens who will lead innovation and collaboration in the global marketplace.
Core Values
Respect: This includes self-discipline, responsibility, honesty and compassion. HCCS believes the development of a happy, successful child begins with an inclusive, caring community. HCCS uses the PBIS program (Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports) which teaches respect through a research-validated curriculum. PBIS supports a daily practice of respect across all school settings with both staff and peers. PBIS also provides a consistent method for discipline which focuses on teaching and supporting the social development of each child and creating a safe, positive school environment.
Bilingualism: This includes appreciation of cultural diversity, because true communication goes beyond spoken and written words. HCCS believes learning a second language expands opportunities to communicate with others, to work in today's global economy, and to understand the diversity of cultures. Through early and sustained immersion in Chinese language and culture, students will be highly proficient in two languages and develop sensitivity and appreciation for other cultures.
Innovation: HCCS believes innovation is born through a combination of joyful inspiration, knowledge and skills. HCCS seeks to nurture creativity, imagination, and critical thinking by providing students with hands-on, stimulating experiences and purposefully cultivating the gifts of each individual child.
